The boys tennis team bonds over tennis techniques they can use at the regional tournament. Head tennis coach Stephen Hinson hopes that the team will be able to play because he is expecting an exceptional turnout. “I feel very confident about the boys team. Although we didn’t have a match last week, in the previous week we had some spectacular matches, and it seems like we are peaking. I truly believe that we can win the first round and qualify for state. I think we can be very dangerous in the subsequent rounds,” Hinson said.

The weather yet again takes a toll on Clarke Central’s tennis team; if the regional tournament can not happen this week than the team will not qualify for state.
Clarke Central High School’s varsity tennis team’s regional tournament has been rescheduled from its original date of Tues., April 14 to Wed., April 15 due to the rainy weather. The tournament will be held at Flowery Branch High School from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The team is expecting to play Winder-Barrow High School for the first round of the tournament. However, if regionals gets cancelled this week than the team automatically loses.
“We have until Saturday to get the tournament in. If we can’t play because of weather we will not qualify for state because we are the fifth seed from the regular season. That scenario would be a heartbreaker,” head tennis coach Stephen Hinson said.
Although the team is having doubts about playing on Wednesday, many of the players are keeping a positive attitude about their match with Winder-Barrow High School.
“I think we are going to win our round matchup with Winder Barrow if we play because we are all playing well right now and are the better team. So, I think we’ll make it to state,” varsity tennis player Ellis Flurry said.
