Author Andrew Smith attended a meet and greet with Clarke Central High School students on March 24. “One reason why authors visit is because they are promoting their book, in the past even though we have had a lot of promotions, we haven’t had a lot of book sales in the building,” Media Center specialist Lindy Weaver said.

After the successful author meet and greet with Jennifer Nivel, the Clarke Central High School media center is hosting another author meet and greet with Young adult author Andrew Smith.
The Clarke Central High School Media Center will host another author meet-and-greet on March 24 with award winning author Andrew Smith.
“I heard him and met him at the Allen conference in November He is a school teacher and very down to earth. I am excited for the students get to meet him and like him as much as I do,” Media Center specialist Kacy Tedder said.
The meeting with Young Adult Author Andrew Smith is being put on with the help of Avid Bookshop, located at 493 Prince Ave, Athens, Ga. 30601. Avid has been in partnership with CCHS and has helped CCHS media center host numerous author meet and greets.
“Avid bookstore got us this meeting. Avid has a very close relationship with CCHS and Clarke County School District as a whole. Whenever they have a young adult author that they feel would be a great fit with our students, they always try to offer to bring them here,” Weaver said.
In order to attend the Meet-and-greet with Andrew Smith, students will have to meet a set of requirements that were emailed out by media center specialist Lindy Weaver.
“Ms. Tedder made up this idea to do a gofundme, and so we were able to raise enough funds in the community to be able to give a free copy of his book to 60 students. If you are going to get a free copy of the book we want to make sure number one you read it, and number two we want to make sure that you actually come to the event that we have worked so hard to bring here,” Weaver said.
