Thirty-one Georgia high schools competed in the Clarke-Oconee Invitational at the University of Georgia’s Ramsey Student Center Natatorium on Jan. 17.
On Saturday, Jan. 17, Clarke Central High School’s swim teams competed against thirty other high school teams at the Clarke-Oconee Invitational, hosted at the University of Georgia’s Ramsey Student Center Natatorium.
“(The invitational) is our home meet. We have two after this in the season,” junior Sage O’Reilly said. “The team is smaller than in previous years–not a lot of people are joining. But I’d say we’re doing pretty well.”
During the day, CCHS swimmers competed in 24 events. According to junior Emma Clarke, each team member competes in four events at each meet: two relays and two individuals.
“One of our boys relay teams made it to the state level, so that’s exciting,” O’Reilly said.
The boys relay team that qualified for state competition consists of senior Jack Germain, junior Elijah Churchwell, sophomore William Frierson and freshman Samuel Churchwell.
