Meghan Trainor finally released her first album “Title” on Jan. 13th. Her album topped the iTunes charts within the first hours after its release.
Trainor’s album starts with a prelude explaining her heart is full of rhythm and that she loves singing songs from her heart and sharing them. The album then transitions to Trainor’s hit, “All About That Bass”. With it’s message to girls and women about loving who they are and catchy tune, there’s no wonder why it’s the number one hit song on her album.
Many of her songs are upbeat but several ballads are interspersed to please any listener. The album is suppose to be about women and confidence but the album takes a turn that makes it more juvenile. The seventh track off Trainor’s album “Bang Dem Sticks” should be a song in High School Musical. Trainor talks about how she has a “thing” for drummers and how she longs to hear the bang of the drum sticks. Trainor sings “I got a thing for drummers/So, baby, show off all them tricks and bang them sticks,” The bang of the drums and the tuba in the background is a bit too much like a High School pep rally.
Meghan Trainor has been known for upbeat pop songs like “Lips Are Movin” and “All About That Bass” but in this album she puts a bit more feeling into her song off of track six “Like I’m Going to Lose You” featuring John Legend.
Trainor wrote the song not meaning for it to be on her album until her manager got a hold of it. John Legend was in the same management company as Trainor, read Trainor’s song and instantly wanted to be apart of it. In the song you can feel the emotion that the two singers are feeling. With the slow, smooth beat and meaningful lyrics it can also be relatable to the audience.
Meghan Trainor has lived up to her hit with more songs that are realistic to her audience while still delivering empowerment for women and girls everywhere.
