As Clarke Central high school seniors graduate, the freshman boys’ are working hard to carry their load for the team.
As Clarke Central High School’s swimming and diving program continues to compete during the 2014-15 season, the whole team has been relying on the freshmen boys for support.
As many seniors will graduate this year, the group of freshmen boys have taken it upon themselves to carry the team when the seniors leave. The freshmen boys include Simon Saupe, Samuel Churchwell, Thurett Cole, Clinton Hubbard and Colin Dube-Cantin.
According to freshman Simon Saupe, the freshmen have been working hard to support their team by improving their personal records.
“We are hard working. We try really hard in practice, and we practice two hours pretty much every night,” Saupe said. “I am improving a lot as the season goes on, and I am looking forward to the next meet because the meet we just had, I did really well in all my events.”
According to foreign language department teacher and head swim coach Emily Dowd, the freshmen are handling their business inside the pool.
“I think they are doing a great job. I am really excited about the future team of the team, especially the boys,” Dowd said. “We have strong freshmen who are trying hard in practice and doing a great job at meets.”
As the end of the season begins to approach, the freshmen boys have high hopes for the future in the swimming and diving program.
“I think we will do good this year and by the time we are seniors we will be really good,” Saupe said.
