Clarke Central High School orchestra students perform holiday music for their performances at Athens Regional Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital.
“We will be performing Tuesday, Dec. 16. at Athens Regional Medical Center in the lobby and then, we’ll go to St. Mary’s hospital and perform in the atrium and play holiday music for the patients and their families and the staff,” orchestra director Eunice Kang said.
Students are excited to get more experience with public performances and like the idea of bringing music to patients and visitors at these two hospitals.
“It is an easy way to make people’s lives a little better. You can always tell that they really appreciate it,” senior bassist Quentin Smith said.
Orchestra director Eunice Kang also is excited for the trip and the music the students are playing.
“It’s really fun and very well appreciated and the audience is always very grateful that we come to perform,” Kang said.
Kang feels this opportunity will not only bring the students experience but will give them a chance to do a good deed to those who are sick or have loved ones who are.
“It is one of the most important aspects of being a good citizen,” Kang said. “We serve our community through performance.”
