Clarke Central High School sophomore Jeremiah Hill works on an assignment during his graphics and design class on Oct 7. Hill had just completed working on his business card. “We offer to the students all the options in terms of programing aside from the academics, what they call the core classes, and in the program area, we tend to do a lot of hands on, experiential learning and link a lot of what we do to real life situations,” CTAE business teacher Paulette Johnson said.

Activities like the Fall Leadership Conference on Nov. 13-14 at the Classic Center, under Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education help students pursue their future careers.
Each class in the Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education department is designated to allow students to explore a particular field of study. Future Business Leaders of America is the extracurricular extension of business class under CTAE. FBLA will be attending a conference to learn more and improve their skills in business.
“Each day you’re doing hands on because in the business classes, you’re learning about work ethics, college and microsoft office way of things. You’re actually learning the software. So, they get to work with programs and learn the inside outs of those programs,” CTAE business teacher Paulette Johnson said.
Students participate in different activities to get more involved in their classes and help them learn more about their field of study.
“We have competitions that (students) are going to be involved in and we actually had a taste of that last week when we went to the Fall Motivational Rally and we took a bunch of kids down there,” Johnson said.
The Fall Leadership Conference is another competition to allow students leaders to learn more about business and gives them an opportunity to meet new people. The FLC will be on Nov. 13- 14 at the Classic Center.
“It’s a conference. It’s held in the Classic Center and it’s only for leaders that are in Future Business Leaders of America, like officers,” senior and FBLA vice-president Martin Garin said.
Senior and FBLA president Molly Arrowood competed in FLC last year and went to all the conferences up to the national level. She completed in public speaking last year and will be doing it again this year.
“I love speaking. Also, you get to meet people from all over the state,” Arrowood said.
The FLC is one of the many activities supported by the CTAE.
“We have all kind of events that we do year round. We do different service projects, we do fundraisers, we have competitive events,” said fine arts department teacher Cutler Bleecker said.
