Marie Yuran became the Associate Principal of Clarke Central High School on Sept. 11. Previously, Yuran had been the special education team leader.
“The success of Clarke Central means so much to me,” Yuran said. “It’s a professional growth opportunity that I just couldn’t walk away from.”
The job became available on Aug. 13 when former Associate Principal Mary Thielman left the district. After Thielman left, Yuran became the interim Associate Principal and applied for the open position. She was offered the job.
“It was a smooth transition. Throughout her tenure as the special (education) team leader, a lot of the duties that Ms. Thielman carried on, Ms. Yuran worked with her hand in hand,” Principal Dr. Robbie P. Hooker said.
Senior Faith Farber says she is glad Yuran got the job.
“I worked with her through the special (education) program for four years,” Farber said. “I know (Yuran) is still around, so that’s good.”
On Sept. 19, it was announced that special education teacher Ashlee Wegmann will be transitioning into the position of special education team leader.
“I really don’t know anything about the other person that’s taking her spot, because I know she’ll probably be the one that I talk to more now,” Farber said. “I think they’re still trying to hand off all the stuff to (Wegman,) so I think it’s still a process.”
Yuran says that though change is hard, she is excited to work with the faculty on a new level.
“This really gives me an opportunity, not to just (help) students and families that were served through the special education department, but the larger community as a whole,” Yuran said.
