Prom is just around the corner, and some guys are just starting to make arrangements. While you are planning for prom, keep these tips in mind..
Don’t wait or you’ll be late
The last thing you want is to get stuck riding in a minivan with three other couples that did not plan ahead. Things get booked quickly, so make sure to plan transportation and rent your clothing a couple of weeks in advance to avoid unnecessary last-minute drama. Last minute arrangements could lead to you not having the prom night that you hoped for.
“I know a lot of people who have been planning since last semester,” senior Matthew Ward said. “(But) if you wait till the last minute like always you will be spinning around and everything won’t be the way you wanted it to be.”
Look fly for the big day
Most guys will be wearing the traditional tuxedo, and there is a variety of options around the Athens area. Pernos Formal Wear and Men’s Wearhouse both provide affordable deals for male rentals of formal wear. Perno’s formal wear offers 40 percent off on their tuxedos for high school students, and can be used to greatly reduce your budget. Clothing choice can make or break your night, so be wise in your selection of clothing.
“Pernos on Baxter and they gives you a discount if you are from Clarke Central,” Ward said.
Don’t forget to order a corsage or boutonnier. Flower shops around Athens offer a variety of arrangements and colors
Try
not
to walk
Unless you are planning on walking to the Botanical Gardens, transportation is important to plan out. How do you want to get there? What are all the possibilities for transportation? What is the most appropriate method of transportation? Those are some questions you should ask when you are considering your transportation on prom night. When imagining the perfect prom night, you would arrive in a limo waiting for your date, but the traditional transportation of a car should not be forgotten.
Don’t spend like no tomorrow
Things can get expensive and overwhelming when you are planning for prom. Be sure to manage your budget. Certainly you do not have to look for the best deal for hours upon hours, but you should certainly look to make sure that you are spending only as much as you need to spend. Look for benefits in certain offers, and size up what you can and cannot afford.
“You should try not to spend a lot of money,” senior Clifford Gant said. “You should try to be on a conserved budget. You may want something in the near future.“
Find your fun side
Although preparing for prom may be a burden, our have been waiting for this night for the whole year. Do not let small mistakes in your preparations ruin your night, everyone makes mistakes, and it is not going to be a big deal if you forgot a small aspect of your planning. The most important thing that you can do is go out and have fun on your prom night.
“Just try to have fun,” Gant said. “You know prom is exciting and fun. Just make sure you get there on time so you can be there with your friends and just have a good time and enjoy yourself.”
