Hundreds of thousands of Americans are affected each year by cancer. Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the United States, with half of all men and one-third of all women in the US diagnosed at some point in their lifetime.
Most people have a family member or know someone who has been affected by cancer; this is why we Relay. Clarke Central’s Relay for Life team collects money each year to help the American Cancer Society in cancer prevention research and patient recovery programs.
Relay for Life supports the fight against all types of cancer to create a world where no lives will be lost to cancer. Every year the CCHS Relay for Life team concentrates our fundraising efforts in the highly popular Mr. Incredible Show. Mr. Incredible is a fun family event where the boys of Clarke Central are invited to show off their talents and unique senses of humor.
Each show includes a “formal wear” portion, question and answer and talent component. Talents range from performing original songs and dance routines, to cooking, to dramatic readings of contemporary music lyrics. We’ve even had contestants show off their excellent page-turning skills.
At the end of the show, the contestants have the opportunity to win one of three awards: Mr. Popularity, voted by the audience; Mr. Congeniality, voted by the fellow participants; and finally Mr. Incredible, determined by the averaging of the judges scores.
This year’s Mr. Incredible will be held on Friday March 7th in Mell Auditorium, and will feature a vocal performance by Simone Zaccaria-Jeffers while the judges deliberate. Tickets will be $5 for students and faculty and $7 for adults. This year’s Relay shirts can be purchased on the night of the show for a discounted ticket. The whole night will be a humorous fun event for a very deserving cause.
Please come out to fight for more birthdays and support our CCHS guys!
