On April 5, the tenth annual Youth Step Show was held at the Classic Center. Hosted by Anthony “TJ” Mitchell, Jr., the step show featured teams from elementary to high school, each competing to win the first place prize of $500.
In the elementary school division, Barnett Shoals Elementary School, Fowler Drive Elementary, School, J.J. Harris Elementary School and Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary School competed. In the end BSES won the first place title, followed by J.J. Harris who won the second place prize of $200.
Clarke Middle School and Hilsman Middle School were the only middle schools that competed. CMS won the first place prize.
Cedar Shoals High School, Greene County High School and Rockdale High School’s Brothers of Mass Destruction were the 3 teams who competed in the high school division. Brothers of Mass Destruction won the first place prize and CSHS won second place.
In between each act, audience members were allowed to pay $1 to put in the jar of the team who they felt did the best in each division. After the money was totaled, the team with the most money won the People’s Choice award.
The show also featured the Hype Dance Group and song selections by Six Boys on a Stool during intermission.
