In high school, the outcome of an election in which most students can’t even vote may seem like the thing about which you shouldn’t worry. For many students, whoever wins the vote on Election Day is not necessarily relevant.
Sure, many of us were not able to go to the polls to vote last Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t care. I have heard so many complain about the election buzz and how they were just ready for the whole thing to be over.
Of course, the attack ads and media buzz preceding a presidential election can get annoying after a while, but the issues at hand will stick around our whole lives. We can’t become tired of political issues, because what happens today will affect our lives in the future.
The TV spots may have disappeared, but the issues that affect us all – what truly matters – will continue to stick around. And we can’t ignore them.
