A large number of alumni from CSHS and CCHS gathered at CSHS’ Waters-Wilkins Stadium for the annual alumni soccer game.
CCHS had a large range of alumni appear at the game, ranging from the class of 1991 to the class of 2011.
The game began with a quick CSHS attack that was countered by the Gladiators. CCHS scored first and took the lead, 1-0.
At the end of an exciting first half filled with a number of impressive saves and close calls, the score remained 1-0, CCHS.
The second half of the game was hard-fought and momentum shifted between the two teams with every steal, save or shot. The Jaguars equalized the score late in the second half with a goal that made the score 1-1.
CSHS adjusted their strategy in order to score another quick goal before the end of the game, but the Gladiators took advantage of the Jaguars’ ambitious play.
CCHS found holes in CSHS’ defense and scored a second goal, taking a lead that was not relinquished for the rest of the match.
The game ended with a victory for the away team; the Gladiator alumni celebrated their 2-1 win with high fives and big smiles.
CCHS ended the day with a record of 3-1-1. The CCHS alumni, junior varsity boys and varsity girls soccer teams came away victorious, the varsity boys lost 1-3 and the JV girls tied 1-1 with their cross-town rivals.
